Join Emile Sorger, a yoga and handstand teacher with over 15 years of experience, for an opportunity to refine your yoga technique and develop fundamental confidence in your own strength.
This workshop will examine the building blocks of how to stand on the hands with specific attention devoted towards developing strength and stability as well as relaxation and openness. We will begin with preparatory exercises to strengthen core muscles in the pelvis and torso that are the building blocks of more advanced postures. The warm up will conclude with a comprehensive wrist and shoulder sequence to prepare the upper body to safely bear weight. Based on that foundation the workshop will then move into techniques for how to safely and playfully approach handstands. This will include individual and partner work as well as opportunities for students to practice handstands at the wall and, depending on their level, in the middle of the room. This workshop is designed for all levels of practitioners who are curious about handstands and want to increase their confidence as yoga practitioners.
