Fundamentals of Yoga is a once-per-month series that spans over the course of a year. The series of two hour classes focuses on essential facets of hatha yoga and empowers students to explore these themes more deeply. Each session begins with 15 minutes of theory then move on to a 40 minute sadhana, 40 minutes of hands-on practical work and another period of theory, questions etc... for the remaining 25 minutes. Upon completing a session students will have gained a stronger understanding of how to embody the aspect of yoga that we focused on and those who teach yoga will have deepened their ability to work with their students in relationship to that theme.
Session One - The Mind Body Connection
During this two hour session Emile Sorger will help students to go deeper into their experience and understanding of the mind-body connection as it connects to their yoga practice. Drawing on teachings from the Yoga Sutras, Emile will introduce students to the concepts of purification, self-awareness and letting go. Participants can expect a vigorous yoga practice combined with an accessible discussion of yoga philosophy as well as an opportunity to ask questions and discuss their practice with a teacher with over 15 years of experience. This class is for anyone who wants to take their practice to the next level and see the benefits of yoga manifest themselves more fully in their lives. Expect to leave energized in body, mind and spirit!
